Introduction to Studio Lighting

This introductory course explores the use of an electronic studio flash system for effective lighting of portraits, still-lives, and two and three dimensional art objects. Through hands-on demonstrations, students will learn how to create professional-caliber color and black and white photographs in a studio setting. Basic lighting techniques will be covered, including the use of a flash meter to set main, fill, and background lights to achieve a specific look; soft versus hard lighting, bounce lighting etc. Students will learn how to adjust and set their digital camera for optimum results. This course will also include printing some of the files created during the course.
Students must supply their own DSLR or mirrorless digital camera for the course
