Exhibits

Our statewide exhibit at multiple venues will open on October 1st 2021; the current venues are:

  • ·         New Hampshire Historical Society – State wide photos
  • ·         Manchester Historical Society –Merrimack Valley photos
  • ·         Museum of the White Mountains (PSU) – White Mountains photos
  • ·         Historical Society of Cheshire County -- Monadnock Region photos
  • ·         Portsmouth Historical Society – Seacoast photos

It was agreed that the NHSPA will provide the mounted prints to each of the venues, which will have the option of hanging them with or without frames.  NHSPA needs to build a budget for the expense they will incur for printing and mounting the photographs.  Each institution will have approximately 50 photographs, so there will be approximately 350 photographs in total, assuming seven venues.

Jenna Carroll of the Historical Society of Cheshire County has been reaching out to potential exhibition venues in the North Country, Lakes Region, and Upper Valley. There was a discussion of possible additional venues including Colebrook, Berlin, Lebanon, and Colby-Sawyer College.

To be determined is the disposition of the prints after the exhibits.

A digital archive of all 4,000 photographs, not just the curated photos, will be provided to NHHS, and curated digital archives will be given to those institutions that want them.  NHSPA will provide these archives.

The timeline for the photography is as follows:

  • ·         Photography will end August 1, 2020
  • ·         Photographs for the book will be selected by October 1, 2020
  • ·         Review of selected photographs shortly after selection
  • ·         Book production to begin after final selection and review
  • ·         Exhibit opening October 1, 2021

Book

Gary Samson reviewed the options for a book to be part of the project.   The current focus is a book of 224 pages 10 x 9” in size with both color and black and white photos.

Lesson Plans

It was suggested that a set of lesson plans be created to be distributed to schools to detail the project.

Project name and tagline

The project name will change to New Hampshire 2020 and a tagline will be added. One idea for the tag line suggested by Gary is, “A Photographic Diary of Life in New Hampshire”.  The URL NH202.net will be acquired by Dan Gingras and will form the basis of a new website to be built by him.
